# System Settings and Configuration on macOS Tahoe

System Settings (formerly System Preferences) is the central hub for configuring your Mac. In macOS Tahoe, it features a sidebar design that closely resembles the Settings app on iPad and iPhone, making it familiar for iOS users.

## Navigating the Interface

* **Sidebar**: Categories are listed on the left. Scroll down to see all sections.
* **Search**: The search bar at the top of the sidebar is the fastest way to find a specific setting (e.g., type "Hot Corners" or "IP Address").

## Key Configuration Areas

### 1. Appearance
* **Appearance**: Switch between Light, Dark, or Auto (changes based on time of day).
* **Accent Color**: Change the color of buttons, menus, and highlights across the system.

### 2. Control Center
This section lets you customize what appears in your Menu Bar and the Control Center panel.
* **Modules**: Choose to "Show in Menu Bar" or "Show in Control Center" for items like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Sound.
* **Menu Bar Only**: Some items, like the Clock and Spotlight, live exclusively in the Menu Bar.

This is a dense section containing many vital interface tweaks.
* **Dock**: Adjust size, magnification, and position (Left, Bottom, Right).
* **Stage Manager**: Enable and configure the window organization feature.
* **Widgets**: Choose whether widgets appear on the Desktop.
* **Hot Corners**: Assign actions to the four corners of your screen (bottom of the menu).

### 4. Displays
* **Resolution**: Adjust text size and screen real estate.
* **Arrangement**: If you have multiple monitors, drag them here to match their physical layout.
* **Night Shift**: Schedule warmer colors for the evening to reduce eye strain.

### 5. Wallpaper
* **Dynamic Wallpapers**: These change lighting throughout the day.
* **Add Folder**: Scroll to the bottom to add your own folder of images.

### 6. Privacy & Security
* **App Permissions**: Control which apps can access your Camera, Microphone, Screen Recording, and Files.
* **Security**: Manage Gatekeeper settings ("Allow applications downloaded from").
* **FileVault**: Turn on disk encryption to protect your data.
